Why I bought a Jeep
I never thought much about buying a 1940's vehicle. I remember growing up on John Wayne movies, playing Army in the woods, and secretly searching the Grandparents house for any military artifacts we could find. Swords, pictures, patches, guns, anything you name it. And every time we visited, the quest for the war chest would continue. I left like a military archeologist, uncovering the treasures and secrets of my granddads past.
As the years past and I grew into a family of four, I realized that I wanted my children to know the history of my family and their contributions during World War II. Within the last year I started getting into WWII reenacting where I meet the owner of a Jeep who did not have the time to restore it.
Well, it just so happened that I had fallen in love with 1940's Jeeps the week before while working on a film project for the BBC where I was driving a 1941 Slat Grill Jeep in most of the scenes. So I called my friend over the weekend and asked how much he wanted and tried to arrange a meeting to look at the Jeep, however I was busy filming all week and I was told that someone else was going to look at the Jeep tomorrow. Well I knew who that someone was and if he was willing to look at the Jeep then I knew it was a good buy. So he sent over pictures of the jeep and I commenced to beg my wife (BOSS) to allow me this purchase. So she agreed as I was hitting the speed dial and said "SOLD".
